Terms of Service

Last updated: March 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By installing, accessing, or using the PureRead Chrome extension ("the Extension") or this website ("the Site"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). These Terms are between you and Logic Fusion, LLC, the owner and operator of PureRead. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not install or use PureRead.

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Logic Fusion, LLC regarding your use of the Extension and the Site. If you are using PureRead on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

Your continued use of PureRead after any changes to these Terms constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. We will reflect any material changes in the updated "Last updated" date and wherever these Terms are published.

2. Description of Service

PureRead is a browser extension for Google Chrome that provides reader mode functionality. When activated by the user on an article or text-heavy web page, PureRead extracts the main content of that page and presents it in a clean, distraction-free reading view with customizable typography and theme settings.

Current extension features may include: one-click reader mode, article extraction, multiple themes and fonts, persistent settings, reading time estimates, reading progress indicators, locally stored highlights, print optimization, and related reading tools. Features may change over time.

PureRead is offered in two tiers:

  • Free tier: Core reader mode functionality available to all users at no cost, with no account required and no time limit.
  • Premium tier: Additional paid features may be offered in the future, such as sync, text-to-speech, export capabilities, custom styling, or reading insights.

The Extension operates entirely within your browser. It does not connect to PureRead servers, does not transmit any data about your browsing or reading activity, and does not require an account for free tier usage. See our Privacy Policy for complete details.

3. License

PureRead is licensed, not sold. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the extension for its intended purpose.

Unless we expressly permit it in writing, you may not:

  • Copy, redistribute, resell, or sublicense PureRead
  • Modify, reverse engineer, decompile, or create derivative works from PureRead, except to the extent such restrictions are prohibited by applicable law
  • Remove copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices
  • Use PureRead trademarks, logos, or brand assets in a way that suggests endorsement or affiliation

This license does not grant any rights to use PureRead trademarks, logos, or brand assets. See Section 7 (Intellectual Property) for details.

4. Permitted Use

PureRead is designed and intended for the following purposes:

  • Personal, non-commercial reading of articles and web content
  • Improving reading comfort and reducing visual distractions
  • Educational use and research reading
  • Accessibility — including use of dyslexia-friendly fonts and custom spacing
  • Offline reading of previously loaded pages
  • Printing clean copies of articles for personal use

You agree to use PureRead only for lawful purposes and in a manner consistent with all applicable laws and regulations in your jurisdiction.

5. Limitations and Scope of Service

By using PureRead, you acknowledge and accept the following limitations:

  • HTML pages only. PureRead works on standard HTML web pages. It is not effective on web applications, PDFs, images, video pages, or pages that render content exclusively via client-side JavaScript after the initial page load.
  • Variable extraction quality. Article extraction quality varies by website. Some pages have HTML structures that are difficult for Readability.js to parse accurately. PureRead makes no guarantee that article extraction will succeed on every page.
  • Not a paywall bypass tool. PureRead is not designed or intended to circumvent paywalls, metered access, or subscription barriers. If a website restricts article access, PureRead will only be able to display the content that is rendered in the browser's HTML — which, for paywalled content, is typically the preview or teaser text.
  • No guarantee of availability. Chrome extension APIs may change with browser updates. While we strive to maintain compatibility, PureRead's functionality is dependent on APIs provided by Google Chrome, and we cannot guarantee uninterrupted service.
  • No data recovery. Because PureRead stores data locally on your device, data loss due to browser reinstallation, device failure, or clearing browser data is your responsibility. PureRead cannot recover locally stored highlights or preferences.
  • Highlight limitations. Highlights are stored as plain text strings and matched by text content. On pages with repeated phrases, all occurrences will be highlighted. There is currently no per-highlight remove feature — clearing all highlights for a URL can be done via Chrome DevTools → Application → Extension Storage.

6. Paid Features

Logic Fusion, LLC may offer optional paid PureRead features or subscriptions in the future. If paid features are introduced, we will disclose the applicable pricing, billing terms, feature details, and cancellation terms at the time of purchase.

Unless expressly stated at the time of purchase, free features remain available without a paid subscription.

7. Intellectual Property

PureRead brand: The PureRead name, logo, and associated brand assets are proprietary to Logic Fusion, LLC or its licensors. Your license to use the extension does not grant any right to use PureRead's name or logo in ways that suggest endorsement or affiliation.

Mozilla Readability.js: PureRead incorporates Mozilla's Readability.js, which is licensed under the Apache License 2.0. We credit Mozilla for this foundational component. The Apache 2.0 license is included in the extension package.

User content: Highlights and notes you create using PureRead remain entirely yours. PureRead makes no claim to any rights over content you highlight or annotate.

Third-party content: PureRead displays content from third-party websites in a reformatted view. PureRead does not claim any rights over third-party website content. You are responsible for respecting the intellectual property rights of content owners when you use PureRead to read their content.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

PUREREAD IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, PUREREAD DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT
  • WARRANTIES THAT THE EXTENSION WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS
  • WARRANTIES REGARDING THE ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, OR COMPLETENESS OF ARTICLE EXTRACTION
  • WARRANTIES THAT PUREREAD WILL BE COMPATIBLE WITH ALL CURRENT OR FUTURE VERSIONS OF CHROME OR OTHER SOFTWARE

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so some of the above exclusions may not apply to you. In such cases, PureRead's warranties are limited to the minimum scope permitted by applicable law.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL LOGIC FUSION, LLC, PUREREAD, OR THEIR AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, OR LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY:

  • INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES
  • LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES
  • DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE PUREREAD
  • DAMAGES ARISING FROM UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS TO OR ALTERATION OF YOUR DATA
  • ANY OTHER MATTER RELATING TO PUREREAD

WHETHER BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), STATUTE, OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, AND WHETHER OR NOT PUREREAD HAS BEEN INFORMED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGE.

IN JURISDICTIONS THAT DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF LIABILITY FOR CONSEQUENTIAL OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES, LOGIC FUSION, LLC'S LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE GREATEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. IN ALL CASES, LOGIC FUSION, LLC'S TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE EXTENSION SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO LOGIC FUSION, LLC FOR PUREREAD IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR $10, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

10. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of material changes by:

  • Updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
  • Updating the website or Chrome Web Store listing where these Terms are published
  • For significant changes affecting any paid features we may offer, providing notice through the Chrome Web Store or other purchase flow in use at that time

Your continued use of PureRead after any changes to these Terms constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you should discontinue use of the Extension.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising under these Terms that cannot be resolved informally shall be subject to binding arbitration or small claims court, at your election, rather than litigation in court.

If you have questions about these Terms of Service, would like to report a violation, or have any other legal inquiries, please contact Logic Fusion, LLC at product@logicfusion.net.

We review support and legal inquiries on a best-effort basis and appreciate your patience.
